I just went through 2 days of agony writing a program that kept giving me string space corrupt notices - sometimes the notice but with a lockup to match! I just couldn't figure out what the problem was. Then I remembered I had just recently configured my config.sys file to run EMM386. I deleted EMM386 from the config.sys and ran the program again - NO string space corrupt notices! Just to be sure I ran it again but with EMM386 back in. Sure enough the Space Corrupt notices returned! So I am passing this along to anyone who is experiencing this problem or may experience it in the future.
