Sam, Just a quick update on the quick packet format (no pun intended): I do not find that the .NDX files have Microsoft binary format (MBF) floating point numbers in them. Instead, I find a 4 byte integer (long int) whose value represents the byte offset into the MESSAGES.DAT file for the corresponding message. It was really interesting when I first read the PERSONAL.NDX file as though MBF numbers were involved: I kept getting fractional record numbers! :-) -- Rick ___ * SLMR 2.0 * 1E-9 goats = 1 nanogoat --- Maximus 2.00 * Origin: The Fire Scene BBS-HST-(504)641-4789 (1:390/2)
